David Connolly of BAJR fame has just completed some community archaeology in the village of Cousland in East Lothian. Basically, around 300 years ago, a pottery was set up in Cousland, producing ceramics for the east of Scotland. It is supposed to be one of the first in this part of country - but no one knew where it was. With the help of expert archaeologists and technology villagers were invited to get hands dirty and discover their own 'finds' and contributed to the history of Cousland last year and the 'big dig' has just finished there. Read all about on David's blog...There was a trench to discover parts of the old castle too...They also found founds the robber trench of the rear wall of a building which was a later addition to the castle where Mary Queen of Scots was taken after the Battle of Carberry. She gets everywhere....!
